Innovative Teaching Solutions (ITS) is a private management company committed to the creation and operation of a small network of high quality public charter schools designed to meet the needs of urban children. The unique aspect of the operational philosophy is the mandate to donate corporate profits from ITS to the Clothilde R. Smith Charitable Foundation for reinvestment in the schools.

ITS has assembled a group of highly talented, dedicated professionals, experienced in the operation of urban education facilities that are capable of providing all services associated with the operation of a charter school. The primary motivation of these individuals is to provide quality education to the children of metropolitan Detroit.

ITS is committed to maintain a maximum school size of 750 students at the recently rebuilt elementary level, 425 students at the middle school level and 525 students in the high school grades. The limited overall enrollment of an Academy is a pivotal aspect of the operating philosophy of ITS. The moderate student body allows for more personalized attention to be provided to the students by the instructional staff and management of the facility. This smaller enrollment, in conjunction with a limited classroom size, allows the management of the Academy to nurture the student intellectually, socially, physically, and ethically in A SAFE, CLEAN ENVIRONMENT.

ITS believes that the purpose of education is to equip one, by skills and knowledge, to deal with reality. Many educators and social service providers have learned to recognize that the "child’s problem" is most often a symptom of the failing effectiveness and integrity of the family. This program will be managed by empowered educators and on-site care providers who will have flexibility to allow for creative and innovative instruction and planning. Teachers, parents, and professional care providers will implement individual student profiles that will identify the students needs, goals, and responsibilities. This Academy will develop a viable educational alternative to traditional urban public educational facilities.
